The Bird Tree

Sunday was one of those perfect Queensland spring mornings so we loaded the watercraft and headed off to Lake Wivenhoe.  During last week’s outing we could see in a distance a tree close to the water that birds were perching in.  We made this weeks mission to paddle over to it.

We launched and paddled off and it turned out not to be that far away as it only took fifteen minutes to get there.  However, our approach startled the birds so the tree was barren.  We continued on in and easterly direction, passing several headlands until we could see the dam wall.

We turned around and started back, pausing to take some photos of the bird tree, this time with with birds, and a mob of kangaroos resting on the water’s edge.  When we returned to the launch point we had covered almost five kilometres in a little over an hour.
