It Began With .....

The HoneyDale journey began with a desire to establish "our place".  Somewhere we could retreat, to slow down and appreciate a better pace of life.

We are avid cyclists, and over the years have enjoyed bicycle touring around Europe and New Zealand.  Having experienced the excellent cycle ways in other countries, we often wished for similar facilities in Australia.

At last, we have found our property.  HoneyDale is a 40acre bush block, complete with Koalas, which backs onto the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT).

The BVRT is a 161km recreation trail from Wulkuraka to Blackutt. Following the old railway line on the western side of  the Brisbane River it traverses farm land, forest, picturesqe rural settings and country towns. The trail is open to walkers, touring cyclists and horse riders. A missing link in the trail (approx 30km), between Toogoolawah and Moore is due for completion in late 2016. Once complete the trail will the longest in Australia.

Being in the Valley of The Lakes - Wivenhoe and Atkinson dams are also nearby. We are looking forward to having fun on the water in the Summer months.

But first these dreams must be realised!  A lot of hard work is ahead of us in establishing the full potential of our HoneyDale Retreat.
